Short Grain Brown Rice is also known as Pearled Rice or Glutinous Rice (does not contain gluten). This Short Grain Brown Rice still has the high fiber Bran coating giving it a nutty flavor. This small almost round grain of Rice contains higher starch content than long or medium-grain rice and will cook up moist and soft but only slightly sticky.  Short Grain Brown Rice lends itself to recipes demanding a creamy texture and can be used like Italian Arborio rice in risotto recipes. Our rice may be used in Asian and Oriental recipes but please keep in mind that it will not have the consistency that traditional sushi rice would.

Short Grain Brown Rice is best suited for molded salads and rice puddings. Zest up our Short Grain Brown Rice by adding vegetables or dried fruits. Use in risotto, Greek rice pilaf, custard, rice pudding, paella, bread, croquettes, and salads. 

Recommended Preparation Instructions:

Add 1 cup rice and 2 to 2-1/4 cups water to a pot. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cover, turn heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes. Keep covered and let stand for 10 minutes or more. 

One cup dry yields 2 to 2-1/2 cups cooked.
