Zante Currants, come from their place of origin - Corinth, Greece. It was from here that currants were shipped across the ancient world. Stemming from the small and sweet Zante Grape, dried Zante Currants resemble dark, petite raisins. The flavor of Zante Currants is lighter than that of raisins with a slight licorice undertone. Zante Currants are low in calories and high in Vitamin C. Zante Currants are usually used wherever raisins are used but are occasionally used in making wine. Our dried Zante Currants are Sun-dried.

Ingredient Statement:

Zante Currants, Vegetable Oil (sunflower).

Use dried Currants in any dish requiring a light, slightly tart enhancement. Try them sprinkled on top of vegetables or meats or toss them into salads for contrast. With their sour undertone, Currants can play the role of a lemon or light vinegar in sweet and sour dishes. They are wonderful in baked goods or as a fruit topping served over ice cream.

Recommended Preparation Instructions:

There is no preparation needed for dried fruit.  If used in baking, you may want to rehydrate.  To rehydrate dried fruit, pour boiling water over the fruit and let sit covered for 5 to 10 minutes. Drain well before using it.
