There are many beliefs regarding the difference between Brown and Morita Chipotle. We understand that Brown is the green Jalapeno and Morita is the red, fully ripe Jalapeno, thus the difference in color. When they are smoked they take on a unique, smoky flavor that is popular in many Southwestern dishes. Morita Chile Powder is colorful with a deep, burgundy-brown color, Morita Chipotles rate approximately 5,000-10,000 Scoville heat units.
