Description:

Mediterranean Orzo is pasta made with Durham Wheat Flour (Semolina). This textured pasta has a distinct porcini flavor touched with saffron and paprika. Mediterranean Orzo is about 1/3 inches long and oval-shaped. Traditionally used to make pilafs, Orzo like many kinds of pasta is a versatile ingredient. 

Ingredient Statement:

Durum Semolina Flour (Milled Wheat, Niacin, Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid) Water, Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Spices for Flavor and Coloring, Wheat Gluten, Egg Whites, Porcini & Bolete Mushrooms, Porcini Paste (Mushroom Juice Concentrate, Mushroom Essence, Essential Oils), Salt, Granulated Onion, Granulated Garlic. (Contains Wheat, Eggs, Gluten) 

 

 

 

 

 

Toss Mediterranean Orzo with herbs, butter, and spinach for a colorful and tasty side dish or bedding for chicken. Add to soups or make a pilaf with cooked Orzo, whole grains, rice, mushrooms, and seasonings.

Recommended Preparation Instructions:

Add 1 cup of orzo to 2 cups of rapidly boiling water or stock. Return to boil, reduce heat and simmer covered for 10 minutes until tender yet still al dente. Remove from heat and let stand for 3-5 minutes. Add uncooked orzo to soup or stew during the last 12 minutes of cooking.

One cup dry yields 2½ – 3 cups cooked.
