Well known for its delightful flavor, Basmati Rice is grown in India and Pakistan around the Himalayan Foothills, as well as in Iran. Basmati Rice is a long-grain, thin, White Rice that cooks up separate and fluffy giving off a nutlike aroma. Basmati is similar to Jasmine Rice but has a more concentrated flavor.
Ingredient Statement:
White Rice.
Basmati Rice is superb when steamed with aromatic spices and has long been known as the fragrant breakfast rice. Excellent in Thai style pork stew, Indian vegetable rice, popcorn chicken, curries, and dessert puddings. The fragrant taste of Basmati Rice goes well with spicy curries or stir-fry. Substitute in any recipe calling for long grain White Rice. Can be mixed with dried fruits, nuts, herbs, and spices for added flavor.
Recommended Preparation Instructions:
Bring 1 cup of rice and 1¾ cups of water to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 15-20 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes; fluff with a fork before serving.
