Wild Rice is an aquatic grass that grows predominately in the Great Lakes region.  High in protein, low in fat, wild rice is a tasty alternative to pasta and potatoes as side dish options.  Wild rice is also known as Zizania palustris, manoomin, good berry, manomio, folle avoine, water oats, blackbird oats and marsh oats.

  • Use for blending BEFORE COOKING with white rices and grains that have an approximately 25 minute cook time.
  • Smaller kernels will not blossom like the Premium Wild Rice.
  • Gives chefs creative control over their blending.

Recommended Preparation Instructions:

  • 2 pounds of rice
  • 12½ cups of water or stock
  • 5 ounces of Chieftain Seasoning (optional)

Combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 25-30 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
